The Palmyra Area Chamber of Commerce is happy to announce that Mind and Heart, LLC in Palmyra has been selected as the Shining Star for the months of February and March.
Mary Bonaccorsi, DNP, PMHNP, FNP is the owner of this local business located at 125 W. Main St. in Palmyra. Mind and Heart, LLC offers mental health and emotional wellness services to the community using traditional interventions such as prescription medications and talk therapy, as well as complementary methods such as nutrition, aromatherapy and Reiki, a form of energy healing. Their mission is to help people have more contentment and joy in their life through emotional wellness. Clients are offered solution-focused customized treatment based on the severity of symptoms and the client’s preference.
Established in October 2021, Mind and Heart, LLC joined up with the Connected Wellness Clinic in downtown Palmyra. Connected Wellness is a family practice clinic offering primary care services and owned by Rebecca McAllister. Adding the dedicated mental health services to the clinic created more comprehensive health services. Dr. Bonaccorsi shares that the “Connected Wellness Clinic is operated by a nurse practitioner colleague and long time friend. Rebecca and I attended graduate school together over 25 years ago at Rush University in Chicago. We have always had a similar holistic approach to providing care to our clients. Our philosophy of health considers the body, mind, spirit and emotions, not only the absence of physical disease. Treatment for the client involves consideration of their values, priorities, and goals, not only the strict medical protocols of treatment.”

Dr Bonaccorsi further states that “Some clients have situational stress, anxiety or sadness due to current stressors or life transitions and need temporary support. Some clients have longer term conditions such as trauma, addiction and chronic mental illness. Some people don’t know what normal is, they have felt anxious or sad all their life until they find relief in taking medicine and then say ‘I wish I had tried this 10 years ago!’
Mind and Heart, LLC is passionate about bringing healthy living options to Palmyra in all forms-physical health, emotional health, social connection. One of their goals is to increase awareness of the services currently in the area. Palmyra has a nice foundation of wellness activities including yoga classes offered through the park district, a local chiropractor, meditation classes at the library, and the Healthy Community Network which offers nutrition and other health services. Furthermore, Mind and Heart, LLC offers an Alanon group at the clinic on Monday mornings, which is a support group for people who are affected by a loved one with addiction. In the future they plan on offering support groups at the clinic for weight loss and smoking cessation and have hopes of seeing a small exercise facility open in the downtown!
Mind and Heart, LLC offers a free initial 45-60 minute consultation session during which background information, current symptoms and goals are discussed, after which a treatment plan is recommended. Subsequent visits for therapy, medication management or Reiki cost $40.00. Mind and Heart, LLC works with high school age to seniors. They don’t accept insurance at this time, but do accept cash, check, debit and HSA cards.
